What could happen if I over tighten the rod bolts in my 25 hp kohler v-twin?

There are 12 inch-pounds per foot pound.

Takes very simple math... however many inch-pounds you are supposed to tighten the bolt to, just divide by 12 to use the foot-pound wrench.

Tightening to 35 ft-lb is equivalent to 420 in-lb.

Quite honestly, I'd be more worried about metal fatigue in your case. Over-tightening the rod bolts could cause the bolts to snap when the engine is under a heavy load resulting in catastrophic engine failure.|||And if they do move you will wear out the bearing surface very quickly and demolish your motor.|||the pistons wont able to move
